Earlier today, I had a chat with another IRC network. Got to talking about merging them into ReplayIRC. Apparently they didn’t get the gist of “Your network merges into our (ReplayIRC) network”. So I spent about 45 minutes talking to them thinking that they were ok with it after me stating as such. Towards the 45 minute mark, they then turn around saying “Your network (ReplayIRC) has to merge into our network”. So yeah, I’m thinking to my self literally: What the hell. Sure, I can understand changing IRCd and Services. But come on, I spend nearly an hour talking about it and the tables get instantly turned? That’s not very cool.
Anyhow, ReplayIRC is staying put as is. Great things come in due time, I just hope I can apply that saying to the IRC network at this time. I was hoping our network would be at a steady 200 to 250+ users by this time of this post. However as SGW hasn’t had any news, the user count on the network plummeted from 150 users daily down to 100 on low time, and 125 on peaks daily now. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s quite the substantial amount in terms for a small IRC network. Back to working on building our existing communities out on the network and to quit trying to expand by adding in other IRC networks.

Well, it seems there is a little light off in the distance in the BF2 world afterall.
Feedback from beta testing
As we roll this map out in open beta we are very interested to know what you players out there think about it. Can we make changes that would make the map better and of course, find any bugs left in the map. If you’re interested in making this map a better experience for all, please give us feedback.
Going into a feedback session there are a few things that have to be kept in mind. The main thing is to understand what experience this map wants to convey – a grinding, hard push of infantry fighting through an urban setting. I.e. – that map should be fun to play as infantry. That’s its main focus. The vehicles in there should add a flavour to the map, but not ruin the infantry experience.
Normally when gaming companies being to talk about their new stuff, that usually does denote a test or the full fledged update/expansion/ you name is to come. Check out the full article by clicking here!
In other news… UT3 this weekend was a free to play experience via Steam Powered. I will have to admit, UT3 on my new computer runs smooth as silk. Getting 100FPS on average is very nice. However, as I am writing this there are only a few hours left for the free to play session then it will go back to the normal pay me to play me game! It’s 40% off on steam games right now at 11.99USD. That’s a pretty great bargain, needless to say. To be honest, I might actually get UT3 now. 2.0 patch or whatever version it is on steam has made UT3 shine once more. This makes UT3 look like what it should of been. A friend of mine zoeff told me this on skype earlier this morning: “UT3 is just a showoff game for EpicGames new Unreal Engine!” I have to agree with this, that is and was true aside form the dumbed down operations of the game to a console type.

Is history. I honestly do not see that thing coming out at all. The last hope i hate diminished this week for it. Another blog post of something else to come shortly.

After waiting months and months for the 1.5 patch. I’m just going to cut the March date of short. Not a single bit of community interaction from the developers on the EA UK forums. All has went silent, and no responses. There fore, I am just pondering when I should just dump playing BF2 all together. More over to the fact, never buying an EA published game ever again.
EA has made a great example of how to:
- Royally piss off the customer base.
- Ignore the community
- Inject adverts into games for further money.
- Add on Punkbuster (which doesn’t do crap) to every FPS.
- Ignore community even more. To the point of deafening amounts
- Extort the gaming community by releasing expansion packs of which have very little content to add to the game. Let alone activation system half the time malfunctioning.
Did I miss any? Let me know via a comment!

Well, since this is my first blog post about SGW weekly, I might as well take the time to explain a little about the show!
SGW Weekly is a Video/Radio show made up of the dedicated fans over at the Stargate Worlds Official Forums in reaction to the latest upsurge of daily information. This show is composed of a round table discussing the week’s cache of information given from CME and the community surrounding. This show was also created to help promote the new upcoming MMORPG called Stargate Worlds.
I have been helping Dec0y and Utopian Hok’taur get this show on the road by allowing them to use our shout cast media service and web hosting on the server. It’s a new service overall, but I honestly do hope this group grows to a larger audience in the community.
Currently the server is set to allow 250 users at one time at a maximum streaming rate of 192kbps. So as far as I am aware, the server should cope just fine with what is needed.
Their website is still a work in progress, but it’s a start: http://sgwweekly.com/joomla – Please note that if you get a 404 error with the /joomla part on it, remove it as the site might have been moved to the root domain.
