Severe storms… wat?

Yeah, someone at the Storm Prediction Center royally effed up for today’s weather out look. I was let down and it was a bust, waste of gas to chase storms that just dumped a lot of rain. Well, maybe the next chance around will be more promising. :(

Severe storm outbreak today!

See par in the bold. Scroll down for rest.

THE QUALITY OF MOISTURE RETURN…EVEN INTO THIS REGION…SHOULD
REMAIN MODEST WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS EXPECTED TO BE IN THE MID-UPPER
50S. THIS COMBINED WITH SURFACE HEATING AND STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE
RATES REACHING THIS AREA BY LATE AFTERNOON WILL RESULT IN MLCAPE UP
TO 1000 J/KG FROM SRN KS INTO CENTRAL OK. THE ORIENTATION OF DEEP
LAYER SHEAR VECTORS MORE NORMAL TO THE SURFACE BOUNDARIES SUGGEST
THE POTENTIAL FOR BROKEN LINE SEGMENTS OR DISCRETE STORMS FROM THIS
AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. STRONG FLOW ALOFT WILL PROMOTE FAST STORM
MOTIONS /NEWD AT 40-50 KT/. STRONG SLY LLJ /50+ KT/ EXTENDING NWD
FROM OK WITH FURTHER STRENGTHENING TONIGHT WILL PROMOTE LARGE CURVED
HODOGRAPHS AND SUPPORT A THREAT FOR TORNADOES…SOME STRONG /IN THE
MODERATE RISK AREA/.
HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY
THE SEVERE THREAT ACROSS THIS PORTION OF THE SLIGHT RISK AND
MODERATE RISK AREAS.

Today will be quite the active weather outbreak in Kansas. Mainly to the south and east of the i35 highway corridor. This might end up coming to me rather me going to it! O_O

Looks like the storms are coming to me!

Well, looking at the latest updates on the Storm Prediction Center, the storm system will be much closer to me then what was originally thought! Very high chance of tornadoes, hail lots of wind to come! Needless to say, today has been a nice “calm before the storm” type of day.

A year or so back, I had an odd dream regarding something like this. The day before was a nice day (like today); but the day of the storms, I was watching a tornado veer right towards my house from the Southwest side. It then later tore through bits of southern Olathe, KS before dissipating. Just hope that won’t happen, one last thing I don’t want to lose is this computer.

Have a look at the images below.

If you know where Kansas City, KS is at, I am just south of there in Olathe, KS. What a fun day this will be, adrenaline rush I do think! :)

Weekend trip this week…

…didn’t happen. Anticipating some severe weather for Sunday and Monday.
Parts in bold:

INITIAL TSTM ACTIVITY WILL LIKELY OCCUR MONDAY INVOF SURFACE LOW AND
IMMEDIATELY TO THE S ALONG OCCLUDING PACIFIC AND POLAR FRONTS OVER
PARTS OF NEB/KS. WHILE HAIL WILL BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE WEATHER
THREAT…SETUP WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR LOW-TOPPED SUPERCELL
DEVELOPMENT NEAR OCCLUDING SURFACE LOW OVER NEB WITH ISOLATED
TORNADOES POSSIBLE
. RAPIDLY BACKING DEEP-LAYER SHEAR VECTORS WITH
TIME ACROSS NEB INTO KS SUGGESTS THAT STORMS MAY EVOLVE INTO A
LINEAR SYSTEM WITH THE THREAT FOR HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.

FROM CNTRL KS INTO THE RED RIVER VALLEY…MORE NORMAL ORIENTATION OF
DEEP-LAYER SHEAR VECTORS TO THE PACIFIC FRONT/DRYLINE AND GENERALLY
WEAKER LARGE-SCALE FORCING MAY BE MORE FAVORABLE FOR BROKEN LINE
SEGMENTS OR DISCRETE STORMS MONDAY AFTERNOON INTO EVENING. WHILE
ENVIRONMENT WILL ONLY BE MARGINALLY UNSTABLE…THE PRESENCE OF
RATHER STRONG LOW AND DEEP-LAYER SHEAR SUGGESTS THE THREAT FOR A FEW
SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS…HAIL AND PERHAPS TORNADOES.

Yep, spring is finally here! Potential for tornadoes, lots of wind and hail with these things to come. Earlier this evening there was a tornado warning out for some remote county in Colorado. At this point, not sure if i want to take an entire day trip out to Great Bend, KS and chase the storms back to my area or not. The one thing I hate about storm chasing at night time is that “slight potential for a tornado” bit. Last thing I want to be in, is a tornado. :P

But hopefully that won’t be the case if much of i70 has some sort of wireless internet, if indeed i do decide to take the drive out there. :)

Here’s an image of the red bulls eye around the greatest potential for the severe weather:

Make note that the western Kansas redline of 30% is right around great bend, KS, stretching down to Wichita, KS over to Topeka, KS.

Now playing on hulu!

Last night my Instinct bot sent a message into the #Stargate-Worlds channel. Normally it is just normal spoiler junk that makes everyone in the IRC channel rage. However this time, it was quite different. Stargate SG1, if I read correct the first of the seasons of the series are now on hulu! They have it noted on hulu that there will be more additional seasons of the show to “come soon”. Head on over to http://www.hulu.com/stargate-sg-1 to start watching!
