Archive for April 2009

One of the first websites I ever visited on the WWW!

Oddly enough, a few hours ago I stumbled upon (irony) an old old website that I use to go to back in early 1999, might be 1998. The website was a resource website for the game known as Roller Coaster Tycoon. It was one of the few websites back in the day that I REALLY use to go to a lot. Great site it was for downloads, discussions and other fun stuff. So here it is, a very Web 1.0 design but who cares about that, here’s the site! http://www.rctstationarchive.com/

The site is in archive / read only mode. So much of the links either do not work or are to 404′s.

My thoughts on Swine Flu

It’s too badly media hyped, that is all. Sit back and take the whole picture in, it’s only a few HUNDREDS OUT OF MILLIONS. That’s not an epidemic.

The case of the toddler in Texas that died due to the H1N1 virus was not a legal citizen of the USA. The family crossed the border from MEXICO into the United States for treatment. Talk about a media blunder. "OH MAH GAWD H1N1 IZ IN TEH US OF EH!!!!!1!"… not.  The only way that virus got in was (and still is) due to the fact the southern border is still WIDE OPEN for illegals to come on over. Seriously think about it, contianing a virus isn’t easy when a country has poor health conditions (*cough*mexico*cough*).

So, since this isn’t a huge blog post. I’ll leave you with this image in place of the swine flu!

ITS TEH SWINE!!
Yep, looks just about right of the 3d model if i don’t say so myself!

Chat with Robert Hewitt Wolfe (Star Trek) this Tuesday!

Hey all, would like to get the word out about this. ReplayIRC is having a writer chat with Robert Hewitt Wolfe this Tuesday. This is the quote from ReplayIRC.com:

Just in time for Easter, we’ve got a special surprise for you. The German Scifi Forum – in association with ReplayIRC ‐ organizes a fan chat with Robert Hewitt Wolfe, the creative mind behind some of the most popular science fiction TV series.

In our fan chat, you have the opportunity to ask Robert anything you’d ever liked to know about the shows and behind the scenes for an entire hour. If he’s got some additional time left after that part, it may become a loose discussion circle.

Our session begins on Tuesday, April 14th at 19:00 GMT.

About Robert Hewitt Wolfe
[Image: Robert_Hewitt_Wolfe.jpg]
Robert Hewitt Wolfe was born in 1964 and currently lives in Los Angeles.
He visited the UCLA and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in film and television as well as an MFA in screenwriting. His first script was “Paper Dragons”.

Five years later, he sold the story for "A Fistful of Datas“ tot he series "Star Trek: The Next Generation“. Robert wrote the script for the episode and thus secured himself a job in the new series “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”.

In 1999, RHW developed the series "Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda“ from notes left behind by Roddenberry himself. The series first aired in fall 2000 and became the “number one original hour in syndication” – a title that it kept for most of its run. RHW was the head writer of Andromeda and
executive producer for the first two seasons. During this period, the series was nominated for two “Saturn Award for Best Syndicated Series” and a “BC Film Comission ‘Leo’ Award for Best Dramatic Series”.

RHW left Andromeda in fall 2001.

Furthermore, he was busy as producer in various TV shows and films, such as "The 4400“, "Scarlett“ and "The Dresden Files“. Currently, he is working on a script for the relaunch of “Riverworld”.

How and when do I participate?

The event takes place on the channel #scifi‐forum on irc.replayirc.com
If you do not yet have an IRC client installed, you can use this webchat with any browser of your choice: http://widget.mibbit.com/url/t6acL3
In order for the session not to turn into chaos, the chat will be moderated for one hour, which means that only Robert and the moderators may talk freely in the channel. To submit your questions, use the following command:

Code:
/msg Q your question

If your question is picked up, it will show up on the channel and Robert will reply to it. After the Q/A session, the channel will be opened for free discussion for everyone.

We look forward to our creative guest and hope that you’ll have a lot of fun during the session!

BattleField 2 Patch 1.5 progress!

Firstly, sorry I have been away for so long, its been a busy time. So here as per request in a number of threads here is an update to where we are with 1.50.

  • Yes its still coming
  • We have been working on a few things to do with DRM as old versions of Battlefield 2 use an old version of SafeDisc
  • We have had a number of last minute hacks appear which we have made fixes for to help stabalise the servers.
  • We have a minor issue to solve with the Chinese version of the game.

While I can’t give an exact date, we are aiming to release our first Beta towards the end of April ’09 as long as everything else goes well.

Seems like patch 1.5 delays are worth it afterall. Source is here: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/7713107-post1.html

I just hope this wont open up a new slew of bugs, glitches and hacks for BF2 now. i’m pretty sure aim botters and so forth can still get past the new system, but the commander hacking, crash to desktop hack, and various other fixes won’t reappear.

A new theme for word press!

Well, I installed a new word press theme today. It’s very…. windows sevenee…ish. I’ll stick with it for a while just to see how well it works.
